Summary
The communications system is critical for train operation and passenger safety. This Recommended Practice serves as the framework for developing inspection, maintenance and test procedures to achieve safe and reliable operation of the following communication equipment typically installed in heavy and light rail vehicles: public address (PA) systems, passenger emergency intercoms, door closing warning systems, radio communications systems and vehicle-borne information signs.
