“The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) applauds the House of Representatives for passing H.R. 4378, the Continuing Resolution, to keep the federal government funded through November 21, 2019, by a bipartisan vote of 301-123.

Importantly, the stopgap spending measure states that the Rostenkowski Test cannot be conducted during this time period, temporarily preventing an impending $1.2 billion cut to public transit formula funds in fiscal year 2020. This 12 percent across-the-board cut would have impacted every public transit system nationwide if triggered.

APTA thanks the House Committee on Appropriations, including Chairwoman Nita Lowey, Ranking Member Kay Granger, Subcommittee Chairman David Price and Ranking Member Mario Diaz-Balart for their leadership in including this critical provision to maintain public transportation investment.

APTA will continue to work with Congress and the Administration to ensure adequate funding is available to maintain transit services and support critical projects that will repair, maintain and improve our public transit systems today and in the future.”
