ATM Report: Upgrade U.S. Transit to Meet Increasing Needs

This Week in Passenger Transport

April 14, 2008

The U.S. economy is becoming increasingly dependent on its transportation system at a time when much of the network needs to be rebuilt and upgraded, according to a new report from Americans for Transportation Mobility

The study, The Transportation Challenge: Moving the U.S. Economy, released April 8 by ATM, describes how continued underinvestment and a business-as-usual approach will have a detrimental impact on the United States to compete in the current and future world economy.

ATM is a coalition of about 400 major transportation users and providers, organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, including APTA and the American Road and Transportation Builders Association.
