Operations Manager

The University of Georgia Campus Transit System is seeking an  Assistant Transit Manager (Operations).

This is responsible  managerial, supervisory and administrative work involving the  direction of the operations division working under general  supervision and guidance of the Campus Transit Manager.

The  successful candidate will have

  • a thorough knowledge of the principles  and practices of transit operations in a university setting; 
  • knowledge of and the ability to stay abreast of contemporary  management techniques and developments;
  • the ability to establish and  maintain effective working relationships with individuals and  organizations with whom interface and cooperation is required;

VALLEY METRO REGIONAL PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY - Valley Metro

(RPTA), located in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking the expertise of a seasoned transportation professional for the position of Safety & Security Manager.  This position reports to the Deputy Executive Director of Operations and will plan, develop, administer, implement, evaluate and modify a comprehensive regional safety and security program plan to ensure a safe and secure transit environment for surface transportation system passengers, visitors, employees and facilities. In addition, this position will confer with and coordinate program activities with member agencies, LRT Chief, Safety & Security Officer and other federal, state and local agencies to administer Valley Metro RPTA's System Safety and Security Program. 

In addition to other essential duties and responsibilities the successful candidate must also possess a strong working knowledge of FTA safety, security and environmental regulations and standards. Experience in obtaining federal grants would be a plus!

Sound Transit, owner of the regional bus, commuter rail and light rail systems in the Puget Sound Region is recruiting for the position of Deputy Director, Property, Facilities and Equipment for the Transportation Services Department.

This position

  • is responsible for providing leadership oversight for the property, facilities and equipment division of the Transportation Services Department.
  • Assists the Director, Transportation Services in planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the activities and operations of the Transportation Services Department including assigned divisions, programs, and functional areas
  • coordinates assigned activities with other Departments/Offices and outside agencies
  • serves as acting Department Director, Transportation Services as required
  • and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Department Director, Transportation Services.

Education/Training:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, public administration, civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related field or discipline. An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience:

Nine years of increasingly responsible related experience, including four years of management, administrative, and supervisory responsibility. Experience in the transit industry and/or in public sector agencies is highly desirable.
