Each June, APTA sponsors National Dump the Pump Day. The day is designed to encourage people to get out of their cars and ride public transportation to raise awareness of the financial and environmental benefits of public transportation.
Join other public transit agencies from coast to coast as they come together to encourage their communities to Dump the Pump by leaving their cars at home and riding public transportation.
APTA develops an online toolkit to assist transit agencies in carrying out their Dump the Pump activities.

Dump the Pump Video Contest
New in 2009, as an extension of Dump the Pump day, APTA is sponsoring a user-generated video contest, asking Americans to tell us why they Dumped the Pump.
Help APTA promote the contest in your community. We have developed a series of materials to assist you.
