APTA Survey
June 5, 2007
In January of 2007, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) conducted a survey to assess the needs of its membership and measure satisfaction levels with its benefits and services.
An invitation to participate in the survey was e-mailed to 6,083 APTA member contacts with e-mail addresses. Each invitation included a link directly to a Web-based questionnaire.
The goal of achieving a 25% rate was surpassed as 2,279 surveys were completed by individuals, a response rate of 37.5%. On a company basis, the response rate was significantly higher. The individuals who responded represented 818 unique APTA member companies, 52% of APTA’s roster and 80.1% of the Transit Systems. This high response rate assures that the respondents are a statistically valid representation of APTA’s membership.
Association Research Inc., an independent survey research organization located in Rockville, Maryland, conducted the Web-based survey, analyzed the findings, and prepared this report. All respondent information has been kept confidential; this report does not reveal information from any individual source.
